Works with LinkedIn
Let each visitor connect their own LinkedIn account in one click, then greet them by their LinkedIn name and photo and post to their feed when they say so.
What you can build
Apps that turn what people already do into something worth sharing: a wins log that posts the week's list, a drafts board that publishes the finished post, a reading list that shares a link card when you finish a book, a guestbook that greets each visitor by name. Every visitor connects their own LinkedIn account, so the same app works for everyone who opens it.
How it connects
A connection to the visitor's own account. Your app declares LinkedIn in
backend.js with one sentence saying why, shows a Connect button, and the
platform does the rest: the consent card, the LinkedIn sign-in and holding the
credential. Your app has no client id, no secret and no token anywhere in its
code. Your backend reads and posts through the @vibes.diy/social library, as
the visitor.
What it can read and do
| Scope | Your app can |
|---|---|
profile |
Read the visitor's LinkedIn name and profile photo |
w_member_social |
Post to the visitor's LinkedIn feed: text, with an optional link card, to everyone or to their connections |
Posting is its own scope. The visitor reads "Post to your LinkedIn feed as you"
on the consent card next to your reason, and decides. An app that posts declares
profile beside it, since a post is written as the person.
Starter prompts
- Make a weekly wins log where I jot down what went well, and a Share button posts this week's list to my LinkedIn.
- Build a drafts board where I write LinkedIn posts, polish them, and post the best one to my LinkedIn feed with a link to my portfolio.
- Make a guestbook for my talk where each visitor connects their LinkedIn and their name and photo show next to their note.
Good to know
- Each visitor brings their own account. Nobody pastes a token, and the app owner never sees anyone's credential.
- Ask for posting when the app posts. An app that declares only
profilereads; addingw_member_socialand asking again is how it starts posting. - Post on something the person did. A press on Share is the shape people trust; tell them when a post lands and when it needs another try.
- A post carries text and a link card. Write plain prose: hashtags stay live, and the card shows the title and description your app gives it.
- A connection lasts about 60 days. The platform reminds the person before it runs out, and reconnecting is one press.
